We can’t believe it’s been a year since William married Kate and the whole world was transfixed by what and who she would wear for the big day! A lot has happened for Kate in the past year, so we’re going to take a look back at the Duchess of Cambridge’s stylish first year of marriage!
From the day they announced their engagement, the world has been mesmerised with Kate’s style. The gorgeous blue Issa dress she wore sold out within 24 hours and the ‘Kate-effect’ does not seem to be showing any sign of slowing down.
When it came to the big day, her choice of dress was the most anticipated fashion moment of the year ...and Kate did not disappoint! The Alexander McQueen gown she wore a year ago today received accolades world-wide for its intricate detail and elegance. Kate was also praised for choosing a British designer, something she has continued to do throughout the past year. From this day forward Kate has been followed around the world, quickly gaining her style-icon status!
While Kate favours designer brands such as Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham, Issa and Temperley she is also know for her love of the high-street. Whilst her fashion choices are often deemed some-what safe, Kate's Midas-like touch has had a great effect on the fashion industry. There are too many ‘favourite’ Kate outfits to choose from over the past year so instead we've chosen a stand-out few! The stunning pink Jenny Packham dress she wore to the ARK charity gala in June last year is one of our favourites due to the gorgeous colour and embellished waist! The numerous outfits Kate wore during her tour of America are also high up on our list for their impressive attention to detail. The diamond maple leaf brooch she borrowed from the Queen and the white dress and a red hat she wore to replicate the colours of the Canadian flag both show the thought that goes into every outfit she wears!
During the past year Kate has grown into her style and started to take more risks with her outfits. From this fashion-forward military inspired skirt and blouse she wore to visit Birmingham last year to the sexy black velvet gown she wore to the ‘Night of Heroes’ awards in London recently, Kate’s choice of outfits continue to surprise us!
We also loved the coral cropped jeans Kate wore at London’s Olympic Park last month, a much more casual look for the Duchess of Cambridge. We can't wait to see what Kate wears next, during the Royal family's hectic summer of events and how she tackles her second year of marriage.
