There’s no getting away from it – we’re well and truly in autumn now. And with that in mind, it’s time to tidy away the gorgeous tea-dresses and sandals from summer and focus on the new-season.
So, what to wear with jeans and jeggings, boots and skirts? Stunning and super-soft knitwear is the answer! According to Vogue, the modern way to wear knits is by loading on the layers. I’m assuming that’s wearing your beautiful knit under a blazer and then adding a jumbo snood or oversized scarf on top.
In my opinion there’s two ways to wear your sweaters - casual cool or smart and sophisticated.
For your off-duty days, it’s so easy to throw a big cover-up over your jeans. I love the giant wrap knit seen on Chloe’s Autumn / Winter catwalk show. Get a similar version of this any-weather wardrobe wonder for yourself, with this Wallis burgundy tie-wrap front. So cosy!
Alternatively add some interest to your autumn look with colourful jumpers and cardigans. Citrus shades and bold, brights are not just for summer! Introduce some new-season eye-catching colour with this orange turtleneck knit top.
Knitwear was everywhere on the catwalks, and the message from the runways was to wear your knitwear smart, smart, smart.
Team an on-trend stripey and block fitted jumper with black trousers for work, a là Meadham Kirchhoff. Get the look with this Wallis stripey and block knit.
Another way to work the smart sweater trend, is by wearing one under a boyfriend jacket or blazer, like Donna Karan showed us this A/W. Recreate this style with the Wallis flattering red stripe tunic knit.
Finally, wear a lightweight jumper tucked into a pencil skirt, and add long boots for another take on the trend. This super-sophisticated look definitely gets the thumbs up from me and will show you mean business at work!
